A MAN who died in a car crash in Renfrewshire has been named.
Emergency services were called to Brediland Road, in Paisley, following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at around 12.20am on Sunday.
It was later confirmed that a man had died at the scene. He has now been named by police as 63-year-old Jim Paterson.
The 26-year-old male driver of the car has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
Brediland Road remains closed to pedestrians and vehicles while investigations are ongoing and the public is urged to use an alternative route.
A member of Jim's family said: "Our entire family is broken following the tragic death of our beloved Jim. Please if anyone has any information or knows anything which could help the police, come forward."
Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: "Our thoughts are with Jim’s family and friends at this difficult time.
"As our enquiries into the crash continue, I would urge anyone who saw what happened or who has relevant dash cam footage of the area at the time to contact police."
