A MAN was arrested for a number of alleged offences after being stopped by police in Inchinnan.

Officers approached the motorist in Broomlea Crescent at around 7pm on Friday after he was reportedly seen driving along a bus lane in Old Greenock Road.

It is claimed that, in the moments that followed, the man briefly tried to swallow various items.

When police searched the suspect, they reportedly recovered wraps of white powder and £400 in cash.

He was charged with alleged drug offences and road traffic offences.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
