A MUSICAL based on a classic children’s tale was brought to life by pupils at a Renfrew school.
More than 80 youngsters took part in Kirklandneuk Primary’s production of ‘My Son Pinocchio Jr.’
The show, which follows the classic tale from the perspective of the wooden puppet’s maker and father Geppetto, was the result of six months of hard work by pupils and staff.
Kirklandneuk Primary is well-known in the local community for staging impressive summer productions of popular musicals such as Mary Poppins, Aladdin and the Little Mermaid.
Iain Usher, who is a non-class contact teacher and the show’s artistic director, said: “It was a huge success with audiences and we got standing ovations from proud parents.
“The children are already asking what next year’s school show will be and are keen to get back on stage.
“Both performance nights were sell-outs and the school has raised enough money to ensure we can stage another show next session.
“This year’s show was very much a team effort from myself, Jenny McLean as choreographer and Sophie Evans as musical director, who very much hope to be able to continue in these roles next year.”
