IT was party time for staff at two Renfrewshire businesses as they were declared winners at this year’s Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards.
The Clippens Inn, in Linwood, was named Best Pub, while Chinese Whispers, in Houston, was given the prize for Best Takeaway.
Staff from both businesses shared their joy on social media after learning they had been victorious.
Jackie Gilmour, co-owner of The Clippens Inn, said: “We’re over the moon and flabbergasted that we’ve won.
“We were up against such stiff competition and, as many of them were from Glasgow, we thought one of the bigger pubs was going to get it.
“We’re totally delighted and so thankful to everyone who voted for us.”
A number of local businesses were also ‘highly recommended’ during the awards ceremony, which took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central on Thursday.
Carriages, in Kilmacolm, received recognition in the Best Burger and Best Newcomer categories, while the Fox and Hounds, in Houston, was given a special mention in the Best Independent Bar category.
The Three Churches, in Lochwinnoch, was also praised as it was highly recommended in the Best Family Restaurant category.
