THE latest request from Covid-hit St Mirren to postpone this evening's game against Celtic has been rejected.
The club had asked the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) to reschedule their game against Celtic, who are due to visit Paisley tonight, and their Boxing Day trip to Ibrox.
On Friday, Saints confirmed that a number of positive Covid tests had been returned and it has been reported that a dozen first team squad members will miss tonight’s match.
St Mirren manager manager Jim Goodwin is also set to have similar issues for the Boxing Day trip to Ibrox to face champions Rangers.
He is said to have just 10 fit outfield players for tonight’s game and has been granted permission to recall a number of young players from loan spells with lower league clubs.
Players affected by the outbreak will also miss the December 26 showdown with Rangers through self-isolation rules.
