A JOHNSTONE dog grooming service has won a prestigious Renfrewshire Business award.
LoveDog Grooming Ltd was nominated by its customers for the Best Dog Groomer category at a ceremony in Glasgow recently.
Maureen Grant, co-director of the company, said the team were absolutely delighted to have won the award.
She said: “The ceremony was lovely.
“Some of our customers nominated us and then they voted.
“We were also interviewed at the shop when we were told we had been nominated.”
Covid-19 restrictions at retail stores meant that most businesses in the area had to close for large parts of 2020, but Maureen said that since re-opening, their centre has never been busier.
She said: “Initially it was difficult because we were closed, as that’s what the guidelines told us to do.
“There were customers who really needed their dog groomed and they were struggling to take care of their coats.
“It was difficult being closed and knowing that your customers really needed you.
“During lockdown a lot of people bought puppies, so we are incredibly busy now and our day care is overrun with new puppies.
“I think the most important thing for us is complete, open honesty with our customers.”
Maureen and her business partner, Kelly Morrow, initially had separate companies and decided to work together to create LoveDog in 2015.
She added: “We didn’t really know each other before we became business partners but people can see when they come in that we’re quite a good team.
“I suppose you could say we were rivals before LoveDog, as she worked for another grooming service and I ran my own from home.”
