A POPULAR leisure destination is getting ready to throw a special day of family fun this Saturday.
XSite Braehead, in Renfrew, will be hosting a range of entertaining activities between 2pm and 6pm in partnership with children’s charity One Great Day.
Youngsters will be able to get their face painted as their favourite animal and pay a visit to the sweet-as-sugar candy cart, while a professional balloon artist will be on hand to bring incredible creatures to life.
Customers will be asked to make a small contribution to take part in the individual activities in aid of One Great Day, with funds raised going towards Great Ormond Street Hospital and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
Rosalind Gibson, marketing manager at XSite Braehead, told The Gazette: "We're thoroughly looking forward to welcoming our customers to take part in the celebrations, creating a mini fun-fair within XSite for everyone to come together and enjoy. People of all ages will love the classic childhood games and activities we’ve arranged for the occasion.
"Most importantly, we look forward to donating the proceeds to these amazing charities, including Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity which does so much vital work for children and families in our local area. XSite will be donating a £1,000 contribution on top of the funds we raise throughout our One Great Day activity."
One Great Day is a UK wide annual charity fundraising day, which aims to inspire, engage and empower communities to make a difference by getting involved in a series of local fundraising events held throughout the country.
William McGowan, head of partnerships and events at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: "We would like to share our thanks with XSite Braehead for their incredible fundraising efforts in support of our young patients, their families and the NHS staff caring for them.
"It is thanks to the generosity of our supporters that, 20 years on, we are still here for children and families when the lights go down at the end of another difficult day in hospital.
"Our charity-funded projects and support services such as the play programme, bereavement support and emergency family support depend entirely on donations and fundraising. We are hugely grateful to the XSite Braehead for continuing to stand by our hospital community."
