POLICE have launched an investigation after a team bus used by a top European football club was vandalised in Renfrewshire ahead of last night's match against Rangers.
The bus was plastered in graffiti just hours before French outfit Lyon faced the Glasgow club at Ibrox in the group stages of the Europa League.
It's understood the vandalism took place outside a hotel in Langbank sometime between Wednesday night and yesterday morning.
The graffiti appeared to include 'F*** Lyon' and 'Rangers Ultras.'
A number of Rangers fans hit out at the culprits after images of the damaged bus surfaced on social media.
One supporter said: "That’s out of order. They’ve come over to play us at Ibrox, they at least deserve enough respect not to have their bus vandalised. We’re better than that."
Police confirmed they are probing the incident.
A spokesperson said: "Around 8.30am on Thursday, September 16, police received a report of a bus being vandalised outside a hotel in Old Greenock Road, Langbank.
"Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."
Lyon won last night's match 2-0.
