RENFREWSHIRE cyclist Aileen McGlynn admits she is "amazed" by her performance at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo after winning silver for Team GB today.
McGlynn and her pilot Helen Scott secured second place in the Women’s B 1km Time Trial in a time of 1:06.743, despite only training together for 12 weeks in the lead up to the Games.
"It's amazing to do the time we did, which was a 2.5 second personal best for us as a team," said 48-year-old McGlynn, of Paisley.
"We are so proud of what we achieved."
The tandem pair previously won silver at the 2012 Games in London.
Mike Whittingham, director of high performance at sportscotland, which is the national agency for sport, said: “Once again Aileen has delivered on the global stage with a dominant performance to bring home the silver medal.
"It was a remarkable effort from Aileen and her pilot Helen, who have made history with this result.
"Aileen has enjoyed a glittering career and the whole country is proud of her, her coaches and, of course, everyone at both British and Scottish Cycling.”
