A MAN has been charged with racial breach of the peace, two assaults and possession of an offensive weapon following an incident in Renfrew.
It is claimed the 32-year-old suspect was shouting abuse towards members of the public while running along Paisley Road, near Victoria Drive East, at around 1.25pm on Saturday.
Police said he attempted to punch and kick two men, aged 21 and 22, and also shouted racist abuse at a group of people, including a 39-year-old man.
Officers quickly traced the suspect and he was reportedly found to be in possession of a screwdriver.
It is understood that no-one was injured during the incident.
The suspect was taken into custody and is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.
