WOULD-BE thieves have attempted to steal lead from a Masonic Lodge in Renfrew.
Police were called to the building, in Queen Street, at around 9.35pm on Monday after the owner reported hearing two unknown male voices and the sound of breaking glass.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered several wheelie bins filled with lead nearby that appeared to have been abandoned by the crooks.
Inspector Allan O’Hare, head of community policing for Renfrewshire, said: “If anybody has seen anyone acting suspiciously at the Masonic Lodge around this time, please get in touch with us.”
