COUNCIL bosses have announced all large-scale local authority-run events have been cancelled until the end of June.
Chiefs have taken the swift action in a bid to tackle the coronavirus pandemic which is continuing to bring many events in the area to a standstill.
The Paisley Food and Drink Festival and the British Pipe Band Championships are the most high profile casualties with Renfrewshire Council bosses also pledging to rearrange a number of gala days for later in the year.

While no decision has been made yet, there are fears the popular Sma Shot Day could also be cancelled.
A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: “In line with national guidance from the Scottish Government on the coronavirus, we have taken the decision to cancel all large-scale Renfrewshire Council-run events until the end of June.
“This will include the Paisley Food and Drink Festival which was due to take place on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 April and an agreement with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA) to cancel the British Pipe Band Championships in Paisley, which was set to take place on Saturday 23 May.

“We will also look to reschedule both Renfrew Gala Day and Barshaw Gala Day for the end of summer.
“We will continue to review our future events, including Sma’ Shot Day on Saturday 4 July, as the situation progresses."
The outbreak has already led to the cancellation of a number of events across Renfrewshire.
This includes the Erskine Bike Meet and the Bishopton Arts and Craft Fair.

The news comes on the day the number of positive cases for Covid-19 in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde rose to 44.
NHS GGC is the health board responsible for Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire.
The health board now has the highest number of cases in the whole of Scotland.
Figures show the total cases across the country have risen from 153 to 171 overnight.
A total of 4,895 tests have now been completed, with 4,724 confirmed negative.
