A CIVIL servant from Erskine has been honoured with an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her “outstanding” service to vulnerable people in Scotland.

Henrietta Wright, who works as a service leader for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), has dedicated much of her time to helping customers with complex needs.

“I felt very emotional when I opened the envelope telling me I was to receive an honour,” said Henrietta, who was worked for DWP since 1979.

“It means a lot to me to get recognition for what I see as my job in ensuring all customers receive an excellent customer service.

“My first job as a visiting officer, seeing customers in their own homes in some of the most deprived areas of Glasgow, had a profound effect on me and has heavily influenced how I approach my work. Every customer should be treated well.”

Former nurse consultant Maureen Bell, from Johnstone, has been handed an OBE for services to child protection

James Campbell, from Paisley, receives an OBE for services to DWP staff in Scotland after serving as treasurer of the Scottish Benevolent Fund for 30 years.

Professor Graham Wren, from Kilmacolm, has been awarded the OBE for his services to education, science and engineering in his role as special advisor to the principal at the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow.

Elderslie man John Mackin receives the MBE for his services to credit unions as director of Credit Unions of Glasgow Ltd.
