FED-UP residents have slammed a major road closure in Renfrew as “diabolical.”
The town’s Inchinnan Road has been closed from the bridge at Craigielea Road to the junction with Hairst Street since Monday, leading to long delays.
Drivers and commuters from Renfrew, Inchinnan and Erskine have been forced to divert through Paisley, with schools and businesses also affected.

The repairs are due to continue until Friday, although Renfrewshire Council has said it hopes to finish ahead of schedule, as work is “progressing well.”
In the meantime, angry residents have accused local authority bosses of “terrible planning.”
Lindsay McKillop, secretary of Renfrew Community Council, said: “It is just awful. If you are down by the Normandy Hotel, you then can’t get back into Renfrew town centre.
“It is just a complete farce. It would be an understatement to say the planning has been poor.
“It is just diabolical.”
The repairs are part of Renfrewshire Council’s £8million investment in the local road network this year.
One resident, who asked to remain anonymous, added: “It’s absolutely terrible for people who are coming from Erskine through Renfrew.
“I am just avoiding the road at all costs as it’s been a nightmare.”

Councillor John Shaw, who represents the town, admitted the works were not ideal but said they were part of £48m investment by the SNP administration over five years in Renfrewshire's roads.
He added: "The road surface in the area is in a bad way and the works will make a big difference.
"The challenging nature of the job has probably meant it has been shied away from in the past but the massive £47.5m investment this SNP administration is making in our roads, footpaths and active travel routes will mean this type of project is tackled head on."
A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: “Local access has been maintained and signposted diversions are in place as we carry out significant road resurfacing and improvement works on Inchinnan Road in Renfrew.
“These works were advertised in advance and all options were considered to minimise disruption.”
It has now been confirmed that council officers expect the road will remain closed until late this evening (Thursday) or early tomorrow (Friday) morning.
