NEW recycling bins are set to roll out across Renfrewshire from next week as the bin collection service changes for residents.

From Monday, green recycling bins will be delivered over a three-week period to residents across Renfrewshire.

The new green bin will be for plastics, cans and glass and the blue bin will now be for paper, card and cardboard only.

The new service is part of a drive to improve recycling in Renfrewshire and reduce the costs associated with disposing of general waste.

Information packs specific to each household in Renfrewshire are also set to drop through letterboxes to ensure residents are fully informed of what the new service means for them, and these should arrive in advance of their new bin.

The packs will provide clear guidance on what should go in what bin, a full calendar of when each bin should go out and details on any change in collection day.

Councillor Cathy McEwan, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said: “We’ve been working hard to ensure we provide residents with all the information they need to adapt to the new service and we would encourage all residents to read their information pack closely as it outlines what the changes mean for them.

“The new green bins will be delivered across Renfrewshire over a three-week period so don’t worry if you don’t receive yours straight away, but make sure you start using the new bin as soon as it arrives.

“We’re here to support residents with the new service so if you have any questions then please get in touch.”

The first collection of the new bins will take place from 3 December and residents should consult their calendar for full details.
