AS Europe’s top golfers headed to Paris to win back the Ryder Cup, pupils at Fordbank Primary in Johnstone got themselves in the French spirit with a day focused on all things tri-coloured.
From building a model Eiffel Tower to learning about French artists, youngsters donned their berets and got stuck into croissants, soaking up the rich culture of the nation.
Headteacher Carol McCormick said it was an enriching day for the kids who seemed to enjoy every minute.
She said: “The French focus day is something we do every second year at Fordbank. We alternate with a Spanish day every year.
“It allows the pupils to experience French culture and helps that come alive for them.
“We had all sorts going on including a STEM challenge of building an Eiffel Tower. Active Schools came along and did some ballet with the P1 to P3s, and we had some time learning about French artists and did a quiz.
“There was plenty of games and songs throughout the day too.
“It was a bit of fun for them as lessons are usually a lot about volcabulary, so this allows them to learn a bit more about the country itself.”
Students from Johnstone High School also went along to Fordbank to help the students develop their skills.
Every pupil in P1 to P7 learns French at Fordbank, and all P5 to P7 pupils also get introduced to Spanish.
