A JOHNSTONE woman has been remanded in custody after she was accused of deliberately torching her former girlfriend’s flat.
Lisa Gilmour is said to have targeted the property in Morar Drive, Linwood, in the early hours of Sunday morning by setting fire to a shoe rack which was placed against the front door and then stuffing a burning boot through the letterbox.
It is alleged the incident took place at around 5am, while Kara Watt and Peter Hughes, who both live there, were asleep inside.

Miss Watt was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by paramedics and a police investigation was launched.
Officers appealed for information and, during the probe, suspicion fell on 33-year-old Gilmour, who was detained and held in police custody before appearing in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday to face two charges.
Gilmour, of Ness Avenue, Johnstone, is said to have acted in a racially aggravated way towards Ali Naseem while she was in a taxi in Orchy Crescent, Paisley, and elsewhere in the town by shouting, swearing, making threats and shouting racist abuse.

She is also accused of having “wilfully set fire to footwear and a shoe rack which was placed against the front door of the locus, with a boot and laces placed through the letterbox.”
It is claimed that “fire took effect thereon, as a result of which caused fire damage to the shoe rack and shoes and smoke damage to the front door, to the danger of the lives of said Kara Watt and also Peter Hughes, both residing there.”
Prosecutors allege that Gilmour started the blaze deliberately after “having previously evinced malice and ill will towards” her former partner Miss Watt.

She made no plea to the charges during her behind-closed-doors hearing, where she was represented by defence solicitor Charlie McCusker, a partner in law firm McCusker, McElroy and Gallanagh.
Sheriff Frances McCartney continued the case for prosecutors to investigate further and remanded Gilmour in custody.
No new court dates have been set but she is expected to make her second appearance in the dock next week.
