CUSTOMERS are being forced to dodge dirty nappies falling onto their heads and slipping on dog poo bags when they visit a Bishopton food shop.

The Co-op at Greenock Road has seen an increase of customers complaints regarding rubbish being left in the car park and around their bin on a regular basis in recent weeks.

Birds picking into the trash have been scooping up full dog poo bags, smelly nappies and household waste which is being dropped from the sky and in front of the doors.

Many feel that there are health and safety issues to be as a result of the disgusting waste being dumped outside the food shop.

Staff have been trying to control the waste on a daily basis but are finding it difficult to deal with the fly tippers.

Often by the time the team arrives to open the store, birds have dropped the bags of excrement and waste all over the car park and front of the shop.

This in turn means staff are out picking it up everyday in an attempt to keep things clean and tidy.

CCTV cameras have been set up in an attempt to catch the culprit in order to pass information onto the relevant authorities however no one has been found as of yet.

Store manager, Andy Baxtar said: “This has been ongoing for around a year now and is becoming a big problem.

“People have been dumping bags of rubbish in our bin containing all sorts of waste.

“It ranges from dog poo, nappies and rotten food which birds have been picking up and dropping at the front of the shop.

“It is a nightmare and staff are forced to pick it up every day when they arrive for their shift at 5.30am in the morning.

“I've just started working at the store recently but it has been causing issues which we hope to resolve.

“We want to raise awareness about the fly tipping and hopefully catch the people that are doing it.

“We have no idea who is dumping the waste and we are doing everything we can do make sure the shop is hygienic.

“Hopefully the CCTV will be able to catch out whoever is responsible.”
