The funding will be used to employ a specialised team to provide advice, guidance, and support to pregnant women and new mothers, helping them to address a range of issues including financial stability, housing, legal rights, and access to essential services.

The project aims to reduce child poverty by improving financial capability and stability for families in need, especially for those who may be particularly vulnerable.

Tom Arthur, SNP MSP for Renfrewshire South, visited Renfrewshire CAB's Paisley office to meet with Bureau chief executive Martin Fotheringham.

He said: "It was great to catch up with Martin and discuss the vital work being done by Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau.

"My office has a good relationship with Renfrewshire CAB and it’s always useful to look at how we can best work together in supporting my constituents.

“The Stronger Start project is something I was keen to learn more about and I’m grateful to the Project Team for explaining more about the ground-breaking approach they are trialling to ensure positive outcomes for mothers and their newborns.

“I would like to thank Martin and all the staff at the bureau for taking the time to speak with me and for the invaluable support that they provide.”
