Part of a new bridge that is set to be built across the River Clyde was captured being delivered.

The open road bridge will connect Renfrew with Clydebank and Yoker is set to open later this year with one-half of the bridge now at the site.

It is being created in Holland and Belgium before being transported to Scotland.

Members of the public caught the moment a section of the new open road bridge sailed up the river.

In the video that the Renfrewshire Gazette has been give permission to use, a long boat can be seen carrying a huge section of the bridge up the Clyde whilst being escorted by three smaller boats.

The bridge work is part of the Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside project.

It aims to regenerate the Clyde waterfront with a new bridge from Renfrew to Yoker, as well as additional connecting roads, cycling and walking routes.

The project hopes to create better connectivity for communities, attract new jobs and developments to the riverside, and enhance access for businesses and suppliers to Scotland's home of manufacturing innovation AMIDS (Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland).

Renfrewshire Council revealed in March of this year that the bridge is due to arrive in two separate sections, with the next part now due in May.

The Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside project is funded through the Glasgow City Region City Deal, a partnership of eight councils working to deliver a programme of work to grow a strong, inclusive and sustainable City Region and an economy which delivers for all people and businesses.
