A Renfrew man has been charged after allegedly stealing a kitchen knife from a shop.
Officers responded to a premises on Sylvania Way in Clydebank after being contacted by staff shortly before 4pm on March 1.
It is alleged that employees observed the 43-year-old lifting a knife from a display before concealing it in his jeans.
The man is said to have left the shop and gone to a train station in the town where he reportedly dropped the knife onto the ground.
He was then arrested and taken to Clydebank Police Station.
He was charged in connection with alleged shoplifting and possession of a knife in a public place.
A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
