POUNDLAND bosses have confirmed when they will open their new "bigger and better store" at Braehead Shopping Centre.

The new shop will open on Saturday in the former Dorothy Perkins unit after the retail giants reluctantly closed their store on the lower floor in August 2022.

The new location is around twice the size of the previous one and has created 24 jobs, with 10 of those roles being filled by colleagues that worked at the old location.

Braehead shoppers will be able to pick up Pep clothing for the very first time, with the larger store offering a wide range of value kidswear, womenswear and menswear.

The Pep Home department will include the latest 2023 ranges, including new kitchen storage options, bathroom accessories and soft furnishings.

Poundland Braehead will also join the growing number of stores offering chilled and frozen food and it will be one of more than 400 stores across the country selling fresh fruit and vegetables.

Darren Kay, Poundland director of retail, said: "We loved being in Braehead and were sad to leave.

"But that makes opening this weekend even more special to us as we welcome back some old colleagues and bring shoppers an even bigger and better store.

"We shouldn’t be too hard to find as we are in the same shopping centre – just one floor up.

"The store’s size will mean there’s more of our amazing value under one roof across more categories than ever before.

"As well as homeware and household we will also have fresh and frozen food, alongside our produce - all designed so there is everything possible for your convenience shop all under one roof.

"And we are excited to bring our amazing value Pep clothing to Braehead for the very first time.

"We can’t wait to open the doors on Saturday to customers old and new – Braehead – we’ve missed you."

Poundland will open at 9am on Saturday, July 29.
