A woman was grabbed from behind and sexually assaulted in a horrific attack in the early hours of Sunday morning in Erskine.
Detectives at Paisley are appealing for any information following the incident at 3.15am in Renfrewshire.
Cops say the 43 year-old woman was walking her dog on a footpath in Rashieburn, Erskine near to Rashielee Avenue, when she was approached by someone who grabbed her from behind and carried out the attack.
The woman did not require hospital treatment, but is said to be extremely distressed by this incident.
Cops have not released any information about the attacker and have not confirmed whether it was a man or a woman.
Detective Inspector John Stewart at Paisley Police Office said: “Officers are carrying out enquiries in the Rashieburn area, including house to house enquiries, to gather more information on this attack. We will also be reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.
“Our investigation is at an early stage to gather more information and establish if it was a man or woman responsible for this attack, and more details on it.
“I am aware that this incident will be concerning to the local community, however I would like to reassure them that additional officers are patrolling the area, and anyone with concerns should speak to officers.
