Renfrew manager Jimmy Quigley has slammed the decision that left his team with 10 men against Johnstone Burgh on Saturday.
After making a bright opening at Keanie Park, Dom Lavelle was sent off for the visitors as he picked up a second yellow card shortly after the half-hour mark.
Renfrew went on to lose 3-0, with Quigley describing the referee's decision as “terrible."
He told Gazette Sport: “He had booked him after a couple of minutes for a tackle that wasn’t even a foul.
"Then Dom wins the ball and a foul was given against him because he was elbowed in the face and burst his nose and he’s thrown his hands up in the air.
“It spoiled a really good start to the game for us. The decision just ruined the game as a spectacle.”
Renfrew’s status in the First Division was already secured ahead of the Burgh game and, despite suffering defeat, Quigley was pleased with his team's performance.
He said: “The guys couldn’t have given me any more. With 11 men we created most of the chances without testing the goalkeeper too much but we were getting into really good areas.
“It was always going to be an uphill task with ten men."
Renfrew only have one fixture left this season, as they travel to St Roch’s on Friday, May 10.
It has been a stop-start end to the campaign, with other teams playing games in hand, but Quigley hopes his troops can finish on a high by bagging three points at James McGrory Park, where kick-off will be at 7pm..
He said: “It’s been a frustrating end to the season because we’ve had a game, then a week off, for a while now.
“We’ve got one game to go and we’ll be looking to end on a high before our Player of the Year Awards the following night, which will tie up the season nicely and give the guys a well-earned break.”
