A major Renfrewshire service has announced that they are set to raise their prices starting next week.

OneRen, who are a charity that delivers culture, leisure and sport across Renfrewshire, admitted the decision was "difficult" to make.

The charitable trust, which was formerly known as Renfrewshire Leisure, says that the costs of running facilities and swimming pools have seen an increase in the last 12 months.

Last year, OneRen announced similar price rises to try and "recover their customer base" from the pandemic.

From Monday, April 1, customers will see most services increase in price.

Those who use the gym will now have to pay £7 per admission, compared to £5.50 currently.

Swimming and classes will also be impacted with swimming at Erskine, Johnstone, and Renfrew Victory Baths going up to £4.40 for adults and £2.20 for juniors. 

To visit Lagoon and the ON-X in Linwood swimmers will need to fork out £4.85 for adults and £2.40 for juniors.

A family swim will rise from £10.50 to £12, with fitness classes also rising to £7.

It is not only indoor facilities that will see a change in prices with playing fields and associated facilities also being hiked up.

Prices for synthetic pitches at Ralston, Seedhill, Renfrew Leisure Centre, Park Mains, Johnstone Hub and ON-X for adults will see £49.70 for one hour on a 3g 5-a-side pitch and £43.75 for a 7-a-side pitch for an hour.

An 11-a-side pitch to be booked for two hours on a Saturday and Sunday will now see adults pay £109 and a concessionary of £54.50.

OneRen says the increase will allow them to deliver their services at an "affordable price" and that they are "grateful for the support of their members and customers".

There will be no price increase to direct debits at this time, the trust has confirmed.

In a statement released by the organisation, it said: "We’ve all felt the impact of rising prices over the last year and OneRen has not been immune to those pressures.

"The costs associated with running our facilities and swimming pools have increased in the last 12 months.

"Our cost pressures include higher energy costs, inflationary pressures across our suppliers, the ongoing impacts of the pandemic as we look to recover our customer base, and pay awards for our hard-working staff.

"To continue to deliver our services, this means we must make the difficult decision to increase our prices from 1st April 2024.

"However, at OneRen we also recognise that current cost-of-living crisis everyone is experiencing and we are working hard to provide our services at an affordable price.

"We’ve always worked hard to offer services that help people to enjoy active and health lives, at an affordable price and we will continue to do so.

"We are grateful for the support of our customers and members and hope you will continue to benefit from everything that OneRen has to offer over the coming year."
